Bye 2015, Hello 2016!

January 02, 2016

I did this very same post last year (you can read it here) and I am doing it again this year because I would like to reflect and look back on the past year as it may be of help in making this year more fruitful for me.

10 Questions from http://www.yourtango.com/

1. What did you learn about yourself from this past year?  I learned that I can be a mother and a partner. Never thought, nor imagined to be one. In 2015, I became both and I couldn't be more happy about it.

2. Which relationship(s) meant the most to you this past year and why? The past year was the most challenging year for my relationship with Ninang Toni, who brought me up & Ren, the boyfriend and father of my child.  My relationship with one of them was almost brought to an end, but luckily it was also in 2015 that I learned how important they both are in my life.  I probably couldn't live without them.

3. What was one of the biggest challenges you faced this past year and how did you handle it?  The biggest challenge would have to be the big shift from being a happy go lucky career woman to being a mother.  I have no idea how I did this, but I guess the saying "babaguhin ka talaga kapag may buhay ka nang inaalagaan" is VERY TRUE.  Avery's coming into my life changed my life so quick that I didn't even notice it happening.  It was a both a challenge and a blessing in disguise.

4. What was one of your proudest moments from this past year and why? Having Avery in our lives and getting our first investment as a couple, our family car named Stitch!

5. What was one of the most meaningful compliments you received this past year? Why was it? "Motherhood has changed you" & "Motherhood suits you"

6. What did you do for fun this past year? What was one of your favorite memories?so meaningful to you? This year was all about my pregnancy and Avery.  Everyday was a fun day since Avery came in my life.  Even the first time we brought her to the doctor for a check up.

7. If you could change one thing from this past year, what would you change and why? My spending habits! I could've saved so much more for Avery.

8. What was the most meaningful thing someone did for you this past year? Ren and my siblings just being there for me all throughout my pregnancy.  There was a point in my pregnancy when it became depressing and dark.  Ren and my siblings became my beacon of strength. What was the most meaningful thing you did for someone else?  I became a mother to Avery. <3

9. If you were to brag about one of your accomplishments from this past year, which one would it be and why? Motherhood.

10. Given all your experiences, insights, and lessons learned from 2015, what’s the best advice you could give yourself for 2016? Be an awesome partner to Ren, an understanding sister to my siblings, a thoughtful inaanak to Ninang Toni, a more visible friend to my real friends and a better mother to Avery. <3

All in all, it was Avery that made my 2015.  Even my Instagram Best Nine says so!  It was a challenging, but emotionally fulfilling year and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
