Little did other people know that I was once a frustrated fashion designer.
Yup, when I was about 10-12 years old. I particularly loved designing wedding gowns. Not because I love weddings, I actually don't believe in them, but because women who are getting married are so sure of themselves that it's easier to design for them. They already know what they want and how they want to look on their special day.
I just found these scanned sketches of mine in my old tumblr account. I made these sketches back in 2000 - 2003. During those years, my greatest inspiration was my Mom who was an artist.
I first found out my passion for designing wedding gowns in Grade 5, when I came across a bunch of my Mom's old sketches, which she said was a plate she had back when she was in college. I wish I scanned them too, cause damn there were magazine worthy good!
When I was 15-16 years old, I already designed 2 wedding gowns for the wedding of 2 Aunts. After that, I thought of making a career out of it, but then, somewhere along the way of growing up things changed.
Plus, my hands aren't even that good. Most of my sketches are actually hideously not proportion. Nevertheless, even if I didn't take the path of being a fashion designer, I still have that itsy bitsy dream at the back of my unconscious mind.
Who knows? Maybe someday my inner Vera Wang will come out and wow the whole world. Ok, that's a fat fetch dream, but why not dream big, right?
How about you? What was your greatest frustration? Share 'em with me. :)
You're so good at sketching! All I can draw are stick figures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lois! Well, you're very good at web/graphics design and I suck at that. :D
DeleteYou draw wonderfully. As Justin B says, "Never say Never!" :) You'll never know. Just keep on dreaming and keep on walking towards that dream. Who knows, maybe this frustration of yours would eventually come to life soon. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
